Default Bidding Directory - What next after hompage?

The main reason I use bidding directories is because you can get you site on the homepage. Once the homepage of a bidding directory is too expensive or its dominated by gambling site, I don't use them any more, there seem to be no life in a bidding directory once it gets to this stage of its life.

This was illustrated by an email I got from a bidding director I had my site on offering links on its homepage for a fraction of the money those who got there via bidding paid.

So, its there no life left in bidding directory, once the homepage is saturated?

I had the same thoughts about this... only thing you can hope is that your PR is climbing as fast as the bids...but in the end I'm sure there is a moment where the price is to high, regardless of your PR...

Hmmm....I think responsible bid directory owners (such as myself ) would generally block bids from gambling sites, but I Know what you mean. I'm put off buying a link on zorg links because the top link is over a grand :S

Bidding directories are difficult subjects. They are getting overun by casino and gambling websites and this is a great shame.

I have very recently caused controversy on this subject regarding casino and gambling by still stand to the belief that we will accept them but not by any means let them overun the site.

On the other, I agree. It gets to the point where bidding directories will not get any submissions. Of course, unless the bidder is wishing to spend big money and for this they would need to see good return on their investment - TRAFFIC coming to their site.

The way I see it - bidding directory owners should work hard on every category and promote them as separate directories. I always said that niche directory has much better chance for success than a general one. Also - gambling links can not affect non-related categories...

That is another thing, I am not talking about zorg link in particular but quite a few of those "top bids" are fraudulent. They are basicaly 'you bid one grand in my bidding directory, and I bid one grand on yours' and some poor fool thinks its real and out bid it, usually the gambling sites.

It is one of the reasons, I am not sure if I should launch my bidding directory or not. I was thinking about making a unique category structure, add content for each category and further on.

    I need some advice

I think you should go ahead (as long as you use LBS you can bring your own new angle to it and you should of course not do the fraudulent type of bid I described above, experienced webmasters can see through it.

couldn't agree more (even though I don't use LBS - probably would've if I'd have been aware of it). Also be as helpful as possible. One of my bidders had a problem, I fixed it, he upped his bid by $5 to show gratitude. It's more than just a quick way to make money, it takes time, and dedication.
