Ok so what would you say are the top 5 strongest and most worthwhile directories to submit to which are free and do not require a recip? Please don't mention DMOZ! I guess part of the reason should also be a decent review time rather than waiting months!
This is really for new sites who want to promote their url but have no budget so to speak! There must be some worthwhile directories out there that all new sites should list with. Don't suggest your own unless you really think it is in the top 5 ok! |

So you want to know the top 5 FREE directories?
If you want a debate, maybe it would be better to add criteria. eg Niche or general price Review time traffic received Quality of review pages indexed Quality of content Position in SERP's for search term for example, but there are loads of other metrics to value a directory by

By and large, something which I've looked at recently is niche directories. They're generally pretty good, so you may want to focus on them.
The way in which I generally find them is this 1. Ignore sites like Directory Critic (for now, can come back to them). 2. Open google 3. Type in [keyword] directory where [keyword] is the keyword associated with your site. 4. Submit to the top 10 that come up. Most niches have a list of website directories, so focus on them first. As far as general, I think one of the best is DMOZ. The only issue is that it can take a while to get accepted, but if you do it right, and you're a genuine site, they've no reason not to list you. I also quite like searchsight at the moment, seems to respond well, well indexed, and gets a few hits from it too. |

You can check high pr directories from they take longer time compared to directory critic ,but most of them have high PR.

There can only be a subjective answer to this question, its not possible to answer the question because your yardstick for measuring quality directory is quite different from mine.
