I agree, "tithing" and, "charity" are good things, and not always, but most of these kind acts are received with, "currency", if not something currency paid for.

This is not matter that what you see? This is the matter that how you see?
My reply was about the importance of money which can not be denied. That was the example showing the importance of money.

A person earn money at a stage for himself, then for his family and after a stage comes when he think over for others and go on for philanthropic contributions/charity.This is the human tendency.

Again I disagree with regard helping. It is easy to be philanthropic when you have the time and money. As a father and husband, my first and formost earthly duty is to provide for them morally and financially. As a human being I should do what I can to make the world a better place, be it by changing myself, or changing others, or both.

At one stage I had nothing, I was bankrupt. Bankruptcy in the UK is far worse than in the US, when it happens in the UK, your basically unable to have a bank account for 6 years, no borrowing no credit cards, nothing. (it has relaxed slightly now). While bankrupt, I found that helping others helped me, and I learned something that has transformed my life, it was humility.

I am with Paul, if we were here for the money, we would be PM'ing everyone who posted on a forum, offereing to help them for money, or constantly self promoting in our posts. I don't see much of that happening, in fact I don't see it happenning at all.

Ghandi said it first, and Michael Jackson used it as a basis for his track 'man in the mirror'
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." <Ghandi>

Another quote is by Tolstoy,
'Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.'

Something I decided a few years ago was this. You might not be able to change THE world, but you can change YOUR world. By 'your' world I mean the world around you, the lives of those you touch. This mantra is what drives me on to spend time on so many forums, helping others, and hopefully showing to them that it is good to give without thought for recieving. The old saying 'it is better to give than receieve is great, but to be able to give, there has to be people prepared to receive.

I like those quotes, OWG.

Another one I like is this:

"Everyone wants to go to Heaven, yet NO one wants to die" - Zig Ziglar

I translate that into, "Most everyone wants wants success, security, etc., yet most NO one wishes to put in the time/resources needed, nor even knows the key".

Nice post, OWG.

I'm putting in the time and resources and would eventually like to make some money from my sites but I never got into it for that reason.

The problem with most webmaster newbies like me is that if you search in google for successful webmaster tips, you get a result such as: Results 1 - 10 of about 2,070,000 for successful webmaster tips. (0.23 seconds).

It's extremely difficult to weed through even the first few pages and find a winning recipe. Then you get all these 00ber successful webmasters who publish books or CD's for $29.99 and throw in a free squirrel pelt mouse pad at no extra charge to give you 1000 pages of absolute nonsense to make your way through.

I swear, I've learned more at this site than I have at all other sites combined about running a website, the rest has consisted of trial, error and hundreds of wasted hours.

Well the SEM book I am writing is so far up to about 15 pages, and I would say there are about another 5-10 pages and it will be complete. I am not charging for it though.

"the rest has consisted of trial, error and hundreds of wasted hours"

NOT FOR A MINUTE, do you consider those, "hundreds of hours", "wasted", Duke. If followed up on diligently, they'll come back tenfold. And always remember, success, whether by mainstream or the Internet, is, "caught", not, "taught", so while there are many SEO (If they are up to date) books, which are useful, I don't believe there to be many, "How to Make Money on The Internet" e-books, which are worth the space taken up on your hard drive, much less $29.99.
