Dell picks Ubuntu for Linux PCs
Dell is trying a second time to sell personal computers with Linux preinstalled, this time using the up-and-coming Ubuntu version of the open-source operating system.
At the end of May, the No. 2 PC maker will begin selling some consumer-focused laptop and desktop models with Ubuntu's new "Feisty Fawn" version of Linux installed, Dell spokesman Kent Cook said. The company announced the Linux move on Tuesday on its IdeaStorm site, launched in February to gather feedback directly from customers about what they want.

I'm glad Dell decided to do this finally and I think Ubuntu is a great choice, but when it comes to laptops I prefer HP and Acer.

Not really no, I'd rather pay the extra for another make.

Come to think of it, I am not sure Dell is cheaper than other makes. By the time postage cost etc is added, its the same price as say HP or other brands.
I have the fact that you cannot just walk to them and dump you PC if its now working, you have to stay at home and wait for some pacel delivery guy to collect it etc etc
That is why I will never buy a Dell

Dell's PCs are 20% or even more expensive here in Croatia than other brands.
In fact only PCs, avaliable here, that cost more than Dells are Apple's computers.

We have never had any issues with Dell PC's, never tried there laptops.
Sometimes they can be idiots about customisation though.

Are Dell in Croatia available in shops or only through mail order from Dell? In UK you cannot buy Dell in shops, you can only order via the Internet or their website.

They are available in 2 shops. Croatia has hundreds of PC shops, but Dell are available only in 2 of them.
