I guess the only worthwile blog that I know of are from celebrities (gossip, gossip ,gossip!) or the "google blog" which is written by the employees from Google usually about the new stuff they're working on.

Is it just me or are blogs everywhere, people are even cramming them into their websites to take place of the index page.

Blogs are good for sharing ideas and networking but I don't think one should go around creating blogs for the sake of it.

Google loves blogs and visits them quite often

A lot of people set them up to advertise their websites.

Blogs, especially hosted blogs also makes life easier for spammers.

The internet is overloaded with blogs. It's a waste of time imho to start a blog. I started a blog on making money online but never got any significant viewership.
