Safe mode is an excellent way of removing such viruses. It is always worth a try.

Let me know if you need help with booting into safe mode

Not just only Trojan are dangerous, if somehow you pc infected with the malware cns type, it could end up your windows system would work well and also you will need to reinstall or format your whole hard disk to get rid of it.

I heard some issue that there is some virus that can make your hard disk broken and you can't use that hard disk again.
That virus come from spam greeting card to our email.
Do you know that kind of virus?

I'm using AVG too, But when I was using other anti-virus I was infected by Trojan.Lodear - it makes my browsers very slow and if I enter a wrong domain or url it directed to another sites which are porn sites. I recommend you use AVG because I using it and no more viruses can be found in my computer. But make sure you keeping up to date with updates and installing them immediately! or else you will be in trouble.
