HI David, welcome to the forum. I am a civil Engineer by trade, loved the job, hated the crap hours through the summer when I wanted to be ripping around the country on my Honda
I took over the tendering and the buying for the company and sourcing spare parts was a nightmare for me. Today with the web it would have been a breeze.
My reason for posting the above is to give you encouragment that you are doing the right thing
Just about any decent hosting company will give you what you have asked for above, but what EXACTLY are you looking to do? are you setting up an ecommerce shopping cart thing? or are you looking to take orders by email etc? How will payment be processed (I used mainly account or cheque with order/ Chaps).
When you say 'spare parts' what EXACTLY are we talking about here ? New? used? specific items from specific suppliers? OE manufactured stuff? I tracked down some airbags for a dumptruck that were being used in aircrafts and I was buying them for £300 a piece, when the Swedish manufacturer was charging almost three THOUSAND!
OE part numbers are king in this game. Whenever a fitter stripped anything, I took the numbers off seals, bearings casings just about anything that had a number on it was logged down, and dimensions taken. THEN came the ball breaking part of telephoning people to try to identify everything.
Had this information been on the internet someplace, then whoever had it up there would have got my order!
So post some more and lets get you going.
