Default shopping cart hole & edit issues?

Hi

A huge thank you to Bagi who's sorted a few niggles in regards to the CHMOD problems, but now it appears after starting the slow painfull task of adding in all the descriptions / prices / stock codes we've come across what seems like a hole in the shopping basket.

During a quick break, we checked out the payment gateways so we temporarily created a new category, and product (trees & tree), for some reason, when the item is viewed and then the 'add to basket' is clicked the basket comes up empty, second time round, it works, without any problems?

Any ideas on this one?

Also in regards to the home page text, and the menu pages, should we not be seeing some sort of wysiwyg editor appear, and the same for adding text to the products? Ours seems to be missing . Also with 4 products displayed on the home page seem all higgldy piggldy with regards to the text over lapping.

Other than that, I'm quite sure in a week or so, (once the images have arrived) that the shop will be able to go online....all 18 items, of various publications and tip cards....I'm sure in time more will be added. Certainly looking forward to the 'live' date.

Sorry to have to post a few more issues that we're having, but I'm quite sure, soon enough all will be resolved, and at least we know that the jv bosscart system is a success

Thank you again

Tim n Tara

Well, I have checked the empty basket problem, but I couldn't face with this. I increased the quantity up to 3 of the Changes in Self Awareness product and could put it into my basket without problem, so I am a bit confused.

The wysiwyg editor was the biggest challange for me, but finally I figured out that some files are missiong from the server, to be honest only a few of them were copied to the server concerning the mambots/editor folder. I have uploaded them.

And the text over lapping has been fixed as well.

You're an absoloute star!

The basket problem was discovered whilst I was on the telephone with one of the founder members of Trust-Ed eager to experiance the bosscart online shop, she was very impressed, despite only haveing a fake tree to put in her basket, it was then she mentioned that the item did not go in first time round, but was in the basket second time round, I too experianced the same tree product problem but again, second time round, not an issue.

Since all that, there has been no issue, the strange hole has gone

btw, Trust-Ed don't and probably won't sell trees

Thank you again Bagi for your help with this

Well finally the publications and tip cards are now all in place. Just need to await the images, a couple of things I've noticed, when viewing the shop, it doesn't seem to be able to find Elvin The Elephant Who Forgets - such a typical title for the system to funny on
Quote:
Error: Sorry, but the Product you've requested wasn't found!

However, it also throws up a 404 for 'Must try Harder'

Not Found
The requested URL /shop/publications/must-try-harder.-meeting-the-educational-need-of-children-after was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Odd to say the least, as all the settings are the same as the other publications that are in. The difference with Elvin the Elephant, is that I've actually uploaded an image for it.........

Other than that, it's brilliant, so easy to use and update, it has to be one of the best shopping cart systems we've used to date, apart from the teething problems - which is to be expected in these early days, it's brilliant.

Any thoughts as to why we're missing Elvin and Must Try Harder?

Cheers

Hi, well I have need to say, that I have no idea what may cause the problem. When I moved the product to the tip cards category everything worked pretty well. When I moved back, it was wrong again so I suppose the issue has no relation. May I ask for a phpyadmin login account. I would have a deep look into that tomorrow.

Hiya

I noticed Elvin the Elephant vanished for a short period of time and I think you may be correct when calling for the SQL access. Quite a few times I've noticed certain software systems using SQL that change or hyphenate names / files in order to bypass the confusion that may then be given to the SQL - I've got a strange feeling that the titles of Elvin and Must Try Harder have caused the SQL a headache somewhere along the line and might be a case of removing them all together and inputting them in again?

Not sure if I'm totally on the right track here? However I shall PM you with the details.

Cheers

Tim

I've had a nose in the SQL myself and noticed the usual strange symbols substituting the likes of ' or " as we all know SQL uses these for itself.

I'm going to hazard a guess that due the title names, and the change of the product titles being renamed and resaved due to spelling errors, that this has caused the problem - however I could be totally wrong.

So...instead of playing with phpMyAdmin, I've removed the two product listings at fault altogether and have re-typed them back in being careful with the title names of the listings. Both, well all the product listings are working.

So apart from polishing everything and changing the text and waiting for the product images to arrive - all is going well with Trust-Ed's bosscart system

Anyway, if you do have a play, let me know what you find, and if I was right with the above - which ever way, at least it has worked and solved the problem.

Thanks again
