New & Installed but battleing with CHMOD

I have to say that so far I'm very impressed, not only by the two emails I've recieved from the Bosscart team (thank you to both of you) , but the ease of installtion and set up. It was a little daunting at first, and I had a few chmod errors to start with, but they were solved without any real issue......

I logged in this morning to start removing various golf clubs and just general setting of the store ready for I think booklets and information manuals are going in there, not too sure yet, however logged in, and got

CHMOD error, now I'm quite sure like most virtual hosts that they're not too keen on 777's so 755's normally sufice, but I'm having a battle here and even if I do get away with a 777 I'm not making any sort of progress, plus I don't understand what has changed as I've not made any other alterations to it, and I so don't want to have to a re-install.

Still, a big thank you to you again, and hopefully once I've finishing my mornings clicking, might even have a resolve.

Any help would be appreciated

...hi, tis me again, and apart from replying to a few posts on this brilliant forum (very impressed) I have been clicking away and ended up with a dual admin screen - odd?

Then the com_virtuemart config file couldn't be read? again odd, I hadn't even changed anything........still, I can now at least log into admin and view the shop.........until......I now have another failed to open stream parser - so I shall continue clicking..........thank you in advance

Hi TnT, thank you for using BossCart JV. When you upload the script to your hosted folders the files gets the default permission of the server. In general this is 755 and the scipts work with it properly, but sometime it is not enough for the script, and I guess this is the situation. I have some idea about the problem. If you could provide me an temporary ftp account and let me know the URI of the site, I think I could fix everything very quick.

.....and thank you, you have a pm awaiting you. I think you're right 755 does seem to be reverted to a lot, at times playing with the config of the store I've litterally had to have an ftp client open and chmod before I make a change, which is a slight issue, but if you can resolve this, we'd all really appreciate this.

I see there is a problem with mod_rewrite, but defining the rewritebase would do the job. Waiting for your pm response and will solve this quickly.

The parser error and the lack of the mod_rewrite has been sorted. Please, let me know if you find any difficoulties on the way.

We're dumfounded by the level of help and the friendlyness of this forum, and really just wish to thank everyone who's replied to the intro / and other posts, and especially to you Bagi for you help

there's one little error left [function.unlink]: Permission denied in public_html/shop/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_main.php on line 264

which is this one, all others seem of been sorted, which we really really appreciate.

What was key to solving this issue for future reference? I'm going to guess that most of it is the host not liking some of the chmod permission?

I had a strang guess that you wanted to delete the existing product structure. I cheated, so I have experienced this. There was a lack of permission on the shop_image folder. Try it again please
