Hi,
I have downloaded the latest version of your software, and found that you're using joomla/virtuemart behind the roof ... One question would be what does this script bring besides the virtuemart's features ? One other question would be how do you cope with eCommerce giants such as Magento, who, as we know, released their product freely / open sourced (in opposition with your usage licence), and, besides that, offer a much more stable, tested and feature-full product ? Well ? Cheers, Georgel |

Well Georgel, firstly I would like to greet you among us here at UKWW. Everyone may find the original copyright notes in every single php files, so i don't think that we would use anything behind the roof.
The JV serie is freely downloadable similarly to the earlier version so I not really see your point. I'm very glad that Magento offers much stabled and tested version, but to be honest I have never heard about it. Have a nice further day! Regards, Bagi Zoltán

Thanks,
First of all I don't see any reason in re-branding existing software under a new name, as the end-user will have difficulties in getting support from the original software's community. Again, the end-user will be very tempted to get the software from the original source. A smart move would have been to have a realy smart installer, that installs joomla & virtuemart directly from the original repositories, and adds a custom admin theme on top of those two. You would only have to look after the installer script ... no re-packing ... no re-downloading new versions ... etc ... Also, I think the end user should be informed about the content of the software, and presented at least with a link to the GPL licence, if not the licence text ... Second, I am not "spying" for Magento, because there is no need to do that. If I would have wanted to see what Joomla/Virtuemart offers (and I did) I would have looked into their communities/wikis/blogs. But again, those guys at Varien are pioneers in ecommerce, and play both on a end-user level, but also on a higher enterprise level. Our company uses Magento for large-scale distributed enterprise ecommerce applications ... but that doesn't imply that it cannot be used for smallers ecommerce websites and so on ... My initial curiosity was about your additions to the joomla/virtuemart stack, besides the rebranding and packaging into a zip file. Cheers, Georgel |

Thanks for your message Georgel, sorry I will answer you question with a question. There are various distribution of Linux under different brand name, you can use a RedHat Linux, Ubuntu or any other distribution you like, if you need support for your RedHat Linux, you will not go to Ubuntu will you? That is my response to your question about user getting support from Joomla or Virtumart for Boss Cart JV series (BTW we are not trying to hind the base of the code, that is why we can it JV which is abbreviation for Joomla / Virtumart.
I do not have time to tell you what we added, if you want to know, find the time to take it apart and you will see what we added and removed from the package. Thanks Temi

Georgelr,
I will be very honest to you because I think that such a smart guy deserves it. I not a computer newbie at all, but after installing joomla it was far not unambiguous for me that how should i manage the content how to maintain that website. So i belive that joomla is not for newbies, unless the installing person has the willingness to read the user manual pdf documentum, which would require a lot of time.. Our initial purpose was the following: Create something easy to use script which would help the users to sell online.. As you wrote Joomla and Virtuemart exists for quite a long time but i think after the default installation the script is not good enough to start using that. I am saying this beside respecting the developers of both scripts. I spend about 2 or 3 months on enhancing the usability of the scripts, and i suppose you will belive me that not the files compressing was which required this time period. Answering once again your initial question. We did not removed the original copyright notices from the script files, which would be against the license, but spent lot of workhour to make it better. This is the reason why you may see the "enhanced by Boss Cart" anchor text in the footer of the demo store as well. Not powered by, or created by, only enhaced by! Was our project sucessful. I think not we are the suitable people to answer this question, but those person who take part for instance the free installation offer. And a very small note about the virtuemart support forum. I asked one question and got no response. You asked a question and you got many answers here. Thank you! Bagi
