I agree with all you assertion about Wales/Welsh, I am sure wales is all that and more but those reasons are sentimental/nationalistic reasons rather than a good business reason for the need a welsh extension.

You can use the reasons to argue for a .cornwall , .anglo-saxon etc etc. I think we have and excellent domain extension in .uk , wish we should all use.
