Eric,
There are lots of rumour about this about SEO forums, maybe its true maybe not but when in doubt just avoid using link.html or any document called link at all.

There is a page called link.html on one of my websites (http://www.velnet.info/links.html) I gave a link to a site called webprosgroup.com from that page, if you look on the back links webprosgroup.com (http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...group%2Ecom%2F) you will see the link I game him fromvelnet.info page showing.

But one my new websites I do not create a link.html pages anymore, I call then resources , useful_site.html or whatever, anything but links.html or any other obvious give away.
